Neuro-inclusive Library Study Club In-Person
If you struggle with distractions and procrastination, then our Neuro-inclusive Library Study Club is for you. The session will be structured around timed study periods and breaks. Here you can body-double with peers to help you read, write or revise more productively. You can also share your study goals to help with accountability, and make social connections if you like. The study club has been shaped by feedback from neuro-diverse students, and will be facilitated by library staff.
How Does Study Club Work?
Welcomes (10 minutes)
- The facilitator will welcome participants into the room and explain how the session will work.
- The facilitator will share what their own study goals are for the session
- Participants will be offered the space to share their goals verbally or on post-its, for anyone who finds it helpful to have external accountability. (You can also choose to keep your study goals to yourself. Whatever works best for you.)
Study (45 minutes)
- We will then study for 45 minutes.
- Study can be writing, editing, revising, reading.
- We will keep distractions to a minimum by working in silence and remaining seated as much as possible.
- If you want to listen to music on your headphones, ensure they are set at a low volume so you don't distract others.
Break (15 minutes)
- We will then take a 15 minute break
- This is a chance to move around, leave the room, get a coffee or tea (provided by us) etc.
- You can chat or not chat; participants will wear interaction badges to make their preferences clear to each other.
Study (45 minutes)
- We will then study for another 45 minutes.
Wrap up (15 minutes)
- The facilitator will then wrap up the session by sharing how they got on, offering others space to do the same, or not as they choose.
The room will be available after the session should you wish to stay and study longer.
