Please ensure you read the set article prior to attending, using the CASP checklist as a guide. These are available as attachments in the box at the foot of this page but will also be sent to you 2 days prior to the workshop. The article will form the focus of our group discussion.
There are two narrated PowerPoints to watch prior to the workshop, plus an optional video. These provide essential information for the session and will improve your understanding and knowledge of critical appraisal of qualitative research. Places are limited and are on a first come, first served basis. Please register using your KCL email to enable you to fully participate. Registration closes 2 days prior to the workshop to allow participants time to complete the preparatory work.
King’s students who require help, advice and support to improve their critical appraisal skills and knowledge of qualitative research.
To increase your confidence in applying critical appraisal skills to published research through a guided discussion of a piece of qualitative research.
Key areas covered in the workshop will include:
- Using a CASP checklist to identify key aspects of qualitative research
- Working as a group to discuss and appraise a piece of qualitative research
The in-person workshop will be used to critically appraise the set article using a CASP checklist, which will be sent to you prior to the workshop (and is available here as an attachment). These workshops rely upon group discussion so please ensure you have done the necessary preparation to be able to participate.
This session will be delivered in-person in the Weston Education Centre (WEC 1.51).
